Brass Seahorse Table Lamp

£650.00

This Belgian table lamp in black and gold depicts the side profile of a seahorse, with an intricate brass plated hippocampus. This is mounted to a rectangular lacquered wood base, from which protrudes the bulb holder. There is a thin gold trim around the edges of the lamp. The piece originated in the 1970s, and was manufactured by the Flemish company Massive.

Massive were founded in 1926 in Wilrijk, near Antwerp in Belgium. Originally they produced candlesticks, candelabras, and other bronze objects - but in the 1970s they rapidly expanded and began to produce these intriguing Hollywood Regency-inspired table lamps.

The lamp is currently wired for EU plug sockets, but we can change this if required depending on the buyer’s location. This lamp takes E27 screw light bulbs. Please note that the shades are for display purposes only – however we can point you in the right direction of a suitable shade should you need it, and as you can tell from the photos, this lamp suits either a vintage or modern shade.
